Collaboration of schools and communities for sustainable development

CoDeS is a Comenius multilateral Network funded by the Lifelong Learning Program from EU that focuses on school community collaboration addressing sustainability. The activities of the network aim at providing an European perspective on the processes of learning, models, values and tools for successful collaboration. Based on partners’ wide range of experience and background in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), the network will produce, publish and disseminate a range of products useful for school and community stakeholders to engage into successful practice such as case study reports, tool box, travelling guide, and different types of workshops.

What's going on:

• Sep 24 - 28, 2012: Teacher In service course (IST) on school-community collaboration CoDeS initiates a IST-course for teachers with the objective of gaining expertise in school-community collaboration and developing new COMENIUS school partnerships across Europe!

  What will the course be all about?
  - Clarifying the idea of school-community collaboration for sustainable development
  - Becoming familiar with European cases of school-community collaboration
  - Discussing principles, criteria and tools for the development of ESD-projects
  - Getting acquainted with community participation methods
  - Fostering capabilities for planning and implementing projects focusing on school-community collaboration
  - Exchanging ideas, experiences and developing links with teachers from different European countries
  - Creating COMENIUS school partnerships and networks
  - Gaining a variety of new teaching methods
